NOVELTEA Launches Confectionery Infused With Signature Spirits

Whisky lovers are in for a treat this Christmas. The cold-brewed alcoholic tea brand, NOVELTEA, has launched its first-ever range of chocolates — and they’re packed with the spirit (of whisky and Christmas).

Celebrate with NOVELTEA

Working in association with the German-based traditional chocolatier, Leysieffer, NOVELTEA has branched into the alcoholic confectionery market. The new pralines feature the flavours of the brand’s winter-spiced Christmas edition, Celebrate. Handcrafted, they contain a creamy ganache that’s been infused with the spirit – a festive, winter-spiced tea, that’s blended with Scotch Whisky. The pralines are then finished in rich dark chocolate.

As seen on Dragon’s Den

Founded by uni pals Vincent Efferoth and Lucas Passia in Newcastle four years ago NOVELTEA, featured on Dragon’s Den in 2018. It displayed a gap in the market for a unique alcoholic tea blend, inspired by international cultures namely Germany, Morocco, China and Britain. The resulting luxury drinks combined premium loose-leaf tea with specially selected spirits from across the globe. All flavours are vegan and gluten-free, made to be enjoyed cold over ice or gently warmed. They’ve received acclaim and many awards – including a rare 3-star Great Taste award for the Tale of Oolong, and most recently, a gold medal from The Spirits Business in their Pre-Mixed Drinks tasting for newly launched La Fusión.

About Leysieffer GmbH & Co. KG

NOVELTEA’s collaborator has a much longer history; Ulrich Leysieffer and his wife Emilie opened their first café in 1909. From there, they expanded to the island of Sylt, to Munich, Berlin and Hamburg. 1950 saw the creation of their first melting chocolate truffles called “the heavenly”, but they’ve since been established as a brand with a contemporary edge, with a love of detail and the highest standards of quality.

An extraordinary culinary journey

NOVELTEA co-founder Vincent Efferoth commented on the new project, saying: “NOVELTEA was created to celebrate the daily little wins. It perfectly pairs with delicious treats, desserts and cakes. In this sense, NOVELTEA flavoured chocolate seemed to be the next step to take our customers on an extraordinary culinary journey to different cultures and flavours. We are thrilled to be able to collaborate with premium chocolate maker, Leysieffer to do this – the chocolates are delicious and we are delighted with the result.”

Leysieffer’s Marketing Director, Anna Winkler added: “We have found a fantastic partner in NOVELTEA to breathe new life into the world of alcoholic chocolates. With delicate hints of spices, the alcohol slightly supports the delicious experience.”

The Christmassy pralines are available to purchase, including as part of a bottle/box gift bundle, from www.novelteadrinks.com (a 70cl bottle of NOVELTEA with 9 pralines is priced at £34.95).
