Lagg Distillery, located on the Isle of Arran, is thrilled to announce the official launch of its inaugural core range Single Malt, following the successful introduction of its Inaugural Batch Releases in Autumn 2022.
Introducing the LAGG Single Malt Kilmory Edition, the first core range release from this independent distiller. This expression will serve as the flagship Single Malt, embodying the innovative spirit of the distillery. Lagg’s focus lies in creating a peated Single Malt reminiscent of the traditional whisky crafted in clandestine stills on the island, long before the establishment of Lagg in 2019.
Matured entirely in First-Fill Bourbon Barrels and bottled at 46% ABV, the Kilmory Edition exhibits the perfect balance of peat influence, vanilla, and creamy notes from the American oak. This remarkable LAGG Single Malt showcases a vibrant and fresh taste profile, forming the foundation of what is yet to come from LAGG in the future.
Kilmory takes its name from the parish where the charming village of Lagg resides. It is here that this dynamic new force in the whisky industry calls home, and the team takes great pride in naming their first core range release after the birthplace of LAGG Single Malt, paying homage to the heart of distilling on Arran.

Following shortly after the Kilmory Edition, the second core range expression from Lagg will be the LAGG Single Malt Corriecravie Edition, set to be released in late July. This spirit is initially matured in Bourbon Barrels and then finished in Oloroso Sherry Hogsheads sourced directly from Jerez producer Miguel Martin for approximately 6 months. Bottled at 55% ABV, this expression retains its natural flavours without chill filtration or added colouring.
Corriecravie is a picturesque hamlet located just northwest of the village of Lagg, offering breathtaking panoramic views along the southern coastline of the island. It holds its own historical secrets, as its undulating terrain was once home to illicit stills that produced the infamous ‘Arran water’ during the early days of distilling on the island.
Lagg Distillery Manager, Graham Omand, explains, “The Kilmory expression captures the essence of the LAGG house style, which revolves around using Bourbon Barrels with our peated spirit. In contrast, the Corriecravie Edition showcases a different facet of the LAGG spirit, highlighting notes of sweeter smoke, spices, and rich fruits. These Single Malts truly embody the southern side of Arran, evoking the earthy character of whiskies that were among the first distilled on the island centuries ago. Today, our LAGG Single Malts represent the spirit and reverence for our land that we can’t wait to share with the world.”
