Situated on a hill overlooking the Ionian Sea, Parga is found on the northwestern coast of Greece, in the region of Epirus. Stunning beaches and crystal-clear waters lap its shores and colourful houses line its narrow streets. A place of natural beauty and rich history dating back to ancient times, it has Byzantine, Venetian and Ottoman architecture; during the latter period, Parga was a centre of resistance against Turkish rule, before being liberated by the Greeks in the early 19th century. Do visit its 14th-century fortress built to protect the town from pirates and invaders, and the small museum within.
Parga Beach Resort
Surrounded by olive groves, Parga Beach Resort features buildings made from reclaimed stone outside and chic French styling inside. All bedrooms have a balcony or terrace and a minibar and pillow menu. There are four pools (somewhere between plunge and lap in size) including one for kids and one by the beach; watersports; a playground; and three places to eat and drink onsite. From the grounds, you can take the 20-minute stroll into town, or hop in a water taxi for a faster transfer. And Valtos Beach (dubbed ‘the diamond of Parga’) is right on your doorstep.
