Ocean Drive Madrid
We were lucky enough to be guests at the launch weekend of Ocean Drive Madrid when the sparkling new hotel hosted a spectacular opening party.
The Spanish capital is thriving, and Madrid is attracting significant international attention for its vibrant dining and hospitality sector. The city has emerged as the fashionable European destination and Ocean Drive Madrid is part of the capital’s booming hotel and restaurant scene.
The Hotel
Ocean Drive Madrid is the new dynamic and distinctive hotel destination in the city, with 72 bedrooms and suites, a stylish lobby bar, and the Mar Mía restaurant with a garden terrace. The hotel also has an impressive rooftop OD Skybar, with pool and terrace overlooking the Royal Opera House and the city skyline.
The Design
The hotel’s contemporary design, created by the architectural studio of Victor Rahola and interior designer Mayte Matutes, boasts advanced, sustainable technology drawing on bioclimatic measures to achieve the maximum reduction in energy demand.
The lobby invites city locals and visitors to mingle, savour a drink and enjoy the temporary art exhibitions.
The Dining
Mar Mía is the signature dining experience of Ocean Drive Madrid, which brings together the Mediterranean feel-good vibes of a chiringuito and beach club, with the relaxed options of a tapas bar, together with the specialities of a Spanish arroceria (there are some superb rice dishes on the menu) – all enhanced with the flair of a city cocktail bar.
Ocean Drive Madrid lifestyle dining
Different areas from the stylish dining to the urban garden terraces, match different times of day and different moods. There is also a terrace right onto the square – Plaza Isabel II.
The menu focuses on tapas, along with different rice dishes and grilled fish and meats. The dishes served during our stay were excellent and very generous too.
Guests can also enjoy breakfast in Mar Mía. It’s elegantly presented, with friendly attentive table service – excellent experience.
Guest Rooms & Suites
The contemporary bedrooms reflect OD Hotels minimalist approach to design with feature full-height windows that allow light to flood in. There’s thoughtful details like Bower & Wilkins speakers, and design classics like the Eames LCW chair, and designer lamps.
Some suites have their own balconies, while a selection of rooms also have unique features like a record player with vinyl records, a photo printer, and even a beer tap!
Guests choosing a corner Deluxe room will also enjoy an in-suite Taschen library for design and culture-inspired reading.
Events
Ocean Drive Madrid creates events, popular with locals and guests alike, adding vibrancy to the hotel all year round. Choose from: Burger Meets Gin, a regular after work event with delicious burgers, premium Gin & Tonics and music from DJs or live performances; Hello Sundays! with its vinyl market and workshops; or Painting & Wine, which sees painting courses with local artists accompanied by a glass of wine.
OD Hotels
Ocean Drive Madrid is part of the OD Hotels group, which owns six hotels in the most significant and attractive areas in the Mediterranean – Ibiza (Ocean Drive Ibiza, Ocean Drive Talamanca and Can Jaume by Ocean Drive), Mallorca (Ocean Drive Port Portals) and Barcelona (Ocean Drive Barcelona); Madrid (Ocean Drive Madrid) opening February 2022, and an international opening is planned soon for the French Côte d’Azur (Saint Tropez).
