Johnnie Walker Unveils 52-Year-Old Whisky Masterpiece

The world of fine whisky has reached a new pinnacle with the launch of Johnnie Walker Aged 52 Years, one of the oldest and rarest expressions in the brand’s 200-year history. Released to honour the blending artistry of founder John Walker and his son Alexander, this ultra-premium Scotch whisky stands as a testament to craftsmanship, ambition, and legacy.

This blend has been meticulously crafted from Highland Single Malt and Lowland Single Grain whiskies, each aged for a minimum of 52 years. Representing a selection from six rare malt whiskies and two-grain whiskies, it includes liquid treasures from “ghost” distilleries such as Cambus and Carsebridge. Only 200 bottles have been produced, making this a collector’s dream and one of the most exclusive releases in whisky history.

Dr Emma Walker, Johnnie Walker’s Master Blender, says “Alongside my small team of whisky experts, we hand-selected some of our oldest and most precious casks of Highland Single Malt and Lowland Single Grain Whiskies for my first ultra-rare release as Master Blender. With this deceptively simple cask combination, our intention was to create a new, masterful blend in homage to our founders’ achievements. The rare aromas, flavours, and character in this blend, combined with their shared age and small number, make this super-limited edition a testament to the art of whisky blending.”

The flavour profile of Johnnie Walker Aged 52 Years reflects its exceptional origins:

  • Aromas: Rich vanilla, butterscotch, and spice layered with tea leaves and menthol.
  • Palate:
    • Single Grains offer smooth butterscotch and vanilla warmth.
    • Fruity notes from Blair Athol add raisins, currants, and orange zest, balanced with tropical nuances.
    • Ghost distilleries contribute textures of cured meat, oiliness, and soft smoke from Brora.
    • Layers of cacao, salinity, and subtle spice complete this harmonious blend.

Presented in a bespoke bottle this limited release captures the essence of luxury. Each bottle offers whisky connoisseurs a piece of history and an unparalleled sensory experience.
