1. SONEVA SECRET, MALDIVES
Located in Haa Dhaalu, the Maldives’ most remote atoll, Soneva Secret welcomed its first guests last April. 2. JANU TOKYO, JAPAN

3. SIX SENSES KYOTO, JAPAN
Conveniently situated among the city’s iconic heritage shrines and palaces, Six Senses Kyoto invites guests to both an epicenter and an escape, to enjoy holistic wellness, signature sustainability and out-of-the-ordinary experiences. The hotel’s design draws inspiration from the Heian period (794-1185), when Heian-kyo (now Kyoto) was the capital of Japan, considered by many the golden age of art and culture that gave birth to “Miyabi” (courtly elegance) concept. This heritage is reflected in the hotel’s modern interpretation, incorporating elements of traditional arts to create a unique and elegant ambiance. 4. FOUR SEASONS OSAKA, JAPAN
Towering above the city’s dynamic Dojima district, the all-new Four Seasons Hotel Osaka introduces the city’s first modern ryokan experience in a major hotel. Ryokans are small Japanese inns dating back to the 8th century, and still popular today, particularly in regions with onsen (hot springs). The entire 28th floor of Four Seasons houses 21 guest rooms and suites decorated by Simplicity designers as a contemporary interpretation of ryokan culture. An additional 154 rooms and suites are spread through the 29th to 35th floors (for a total of 175 throughout the hotel). In a city known as one of Asia’s culinary capitals (there are currently 85 Michelin-starred restaurants in Osaka), Four Seasons presents six dining and drinking options. The 36th floor of the hotel includes a spa with five treatment rooms, a sauna, and 16 m (952 ft) indoor pool. A key part of the wellness offering will be a series of public and private ofuro (Japanese baths) in the ryokan tradition.

18. WARREN STREET HOTEL, NEW YORK CITY, USA
Situated in the vibrant and creative Tribeca neighbourhood, Warren Street Hotel is a celebration of contemporary art and design. 24. SOHO HOUSE, SAO PAULO, BRAZIL
Members’ club Soho House has opened its first location in South America, taking over a historic building in São Paulo and creating interiors influenced by Brazilian modernism. Soho House São Paulo sits within the Cidade Matarazzo, a cluster of early 20th-century Italianate former hospital buildings in the Bela Vista neighborhood that are gradually being restored. The So House’s design focuses on preserving the historical features of the building, which first opened in the early 20th century. There are 32 bedrooms ranging from tiny to large, all featuring locally made and designed interiors throughout. The menu at Soho House São Paulo features modern Brazilian dishes and a range of Soho House classics. Set on the club floor, the terrace is an open-air space with a retractable roof, where you can drink and dine surrounded by greenery. Inside, there’s a small club area serving the same menu as outdoors – including everything from handmade pasta to wood-fired pizzas. Soho House São Paulo also has two private event spaces suited to everything from drinks receptions to parties.

25. CASA LUCIA, BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA
Casa Lucía is housed within the historic Edificio Mihanovich, once the tallest building in Latin America, designed to offer spectacular views of the Río de la Plata, resembling a lighthouse meant to welcome those arriving to Buenos Aires for the first time.
