Far from the island’s more crowded resorts, Cala Sant Vicenç is an idyllic unspoilt spot – a former fishing village – with a select few hotels, restaurants and bars to explore. Found on the northwest coast, the waters here are especially clear, flanked by some dramatic rocks and cliffs which make excellent hiking territory. There are three beaches; Cala Barques, Cala Clara and Cala Molins, the latter being the most popular. Traditional and relatively secluded, Cala Sant Vicenç (also known as Cala San Vicente) offers an authentic taste of Majorcan life, with some excellent seafood to boot.
El Vicenç de la Mar
The clean lines in its architecture and soothing hues of the internal contemporary furnishings – added to a stunning natural backdrop – create a calming vibe at this Design Hotel. This waterside hotel has 30 double rooms (two of which are interconnecting) and five suites, including the penthouse; all have large windows while some come with hot tub embedded terraces and direct swim-up access to the 18 meters long shared pool. Facilities at El Vicenç de la Mar include a cinema, spa, rooftop terrace and a cocktail bar, as well as dining courtesy of Michelin-starred Chef Santi Taura, across the hotel’s two restaurants.
La Moraleja Boutique Hotel
Also known as The Quiet Hotel, this is a peaceful haven for adults only. Housed in a refined mansion, it has 23 rooms, each with private terraces. The hotel is big on art and wellness. There are two outdoor swimming pools (one of which is heated with hydrotherapy), hammocks, sunbeds, a sauna, a gym, a spa with a variety of treatments and a bike garage for cyclists. The public areas feature paintings and sculptures by Mallorcan and international artists. And the hotel’s gastronomy is based on local ingredients, with the bar offering an excellent range of Balearic vermouths.
