Romance & Mischief Rooms

Taking inspiration from the infamous Debutant Season in Bath, where grand evenings of gambling and frivolity mixed
The Debutant Season in Bath was a time when grand evenings of gambling and frivolity mixed with afternoon tea and whispers of romantic promises. These rooms have dark green headboard wooden panelling combined with vibrant luscious red velvet soft furnishings. Nodding to the old gambling culture, there are playing card side tables while the artwork on the walls plays on the theme of romance with love birds and portraits that had been vandalised by ex-lovers.

Literary Hideaway Rooms

These rooms are designed to reflect Bath’s abundance of famous authors. The walls behind the bed are covered in a montage of novels by many of Bath’s authors and the desk is a traditional writer’s bureau with a captain’s chair. The rooms have a cosier feel and a muted colour palette of browns and mustard yellows

Georgian Architecture Rooms

These rooms have a grand Georgian residence feel, with the back wall of the bed lined with ornate ceiling sconce covers and grand high ceilings. The bold, symmetrical, geometric patterns favoured by Georgian architecture of that time are visible with a deep and rich colour palette, designed to accentuate the period features.

Garden Rooms

Moving through the design periods, these rooms are a newly built modern extension that reflects the garden they sit in. They offer a contemporary, light, and youthful modern design.

Underground Vault Rooms

Built in the 18th century the vaults are an amazing example of historical architecture and house the hotel Suites. Food and Drink

The Elder

The hotel’s restaurant is called The Elder and is the brainchild of Mike Robinson, one of Britain’s leading authorities on wild food and game and has become one of the best places in the city to dine.

Seated in a series of elegant and atmospheric dining rooms, interiors have an early 20th-century vintage flair, with oil paintings depicting equestrian scenes, studded tan leather banquette seating, orb-shaped lamps, panelled walls and dark wooden furniture.

Eating here isn’t purely about the food, it’s a journey of discovery, as you learn more about local heritage, or food preparation techniques. Wild food and game are the specialities, the owner’s land managers control wild deer herds on private estates, with all venison processed in the venue’s FSA regulated larder.
