Consumables are a failsafe gift for Valentines this year. As we all strive to reduce our contribution to landfill, a present that can be imbibed is an environmental and timeless choice, that’s sure to bring a smile to your loved one’s face. And whether you’ve known them for a little or a long time, they’ll be delighted by one of these bottles.
Eden Mill Love Gin
Based in St Andrews, the distillery is a well-respected gin producer. This was one of their first recipes, a sweet, floral and pink spirit that’s inspired by the town’s White Lady. As it contains rose (a symbol of passion and love), it’s perfect for Valentine’s, especially for a feminine-minded recipient who loves all things pink.
Beefeater Pink Strawberry
Another pink option, this one leans toward a fruity rather than floral flavour and represents excellent value for money. It comes from a veteran mainstream gin giant that’s highly awarded and is a bright, smooth and soft liquor, ideally served with strawberries (in the glass or on the side accompanied by some clotted cream).
Tanqueray Blackcurrant Royale
From berries to currants, this comes from another longstanding English gin brand, one with a Royal Warrant no less. The Blackcurrant Royale was Inspired by Charles Tanqueray’s travels to France in the 19th century. Indeed, French blackcurrants have been incorporated into the mix, alongside vanilla and black orchid, for an exotic, intoxicating flavour that’s noticeably different from Tanqueray’s other gins.
Gordons Pink Gin
Another gin taking its cue from a recipe originating in the 1800s, Gordon’s Premium Pink fuses botanicals with berries, to create a sweet, tangy and fragrant effect. This is one for those who enjoy sweet and fruity drinks and works well incorporated into a cocktail, or as a prosecco mixer. Like the Beefeater, it comes in at an excellent price too.
Cîroc Pomegranate
The limited-edition Pomegranate from Cîroc is a sweet and fruit vodka with a rosy hue. Silky and smooth, it’s made with the best French grapes and lends itself to the creation of many different cocktails. Distilled five times over, the gluten-free beverage is finished in a tailor-made copper pot still in Southern France and provides hints of zesty lime when sipped.
Smirnoff Raspberry Crush
Arguably the most famous of vodka brands, Smirnoff takes this juicy liquor through a detailed process before bottling. It’s triple distilled from a blend of the finest grains and filtered ten times over through seven columns of charcoal. Serve it over ice or in a flirty pink cocktail garnished with fresh raspberries.
Spirited Union Pink Grapefruit & Rose Rum
While pink grapefruit and rose give the colour to this botanical rum, it’s the addition of blood orange that provides the more bitter tang. It’s, therefore, less sweet than some of the other fruity floral drinks on our list, with an aromatic, botanical flavour. Each bottle also contains honey-scented elderflower blossom and is topped with a cork stopper for an extra touch of class.
